Personal Experience Report: ESH Summer School 2026
Participating in the ESH Summer School 2026 in Lunteren, the Netherlands, from 6–11 September 2026, and representing Germany at this event was an incredibly rewarding experience. Over the course of the week, I had the opportunity to connect with more than 60 researchers and clinicians from 38 countries, exchanging scientific ideas and clinical perspectives.
Key Highlights & Sharing Our Research
One of the main highlights for me was presenting our translational research from RWTH Aachen University Hospital in a small-group setting. I shared our current work on the role of inflammation in cardiovascular disease, which led to interesting discussions and valuable feedback from faculty members.
Learning & Takeaways
The scientific sessions provided me with fresh perspectives on clinical research and practice beyond my background in basic and translational science. The programme covered a broad range of topics, including clinical trials, therapeutic approaches to hypertension, novel biomarkers, and the latest clinical guidelines for the management of hypertension.
Beyond the lectures, the interactive atmosphere provided an excellent opportunity to connect with early-career researchers from across Europe and exchange ideas about potential future collaborations. The insights and perspectives I gained during the Summer School will help broaden my understanding and contribute to our ongoing research.
I would like to sincerely thank the Deutsche Hochdruckliga (DHL) for selecting me from Germany to attend the ESH Summer School and for supporting my participation and travel. This opportunity has been highly valuable for both my personal and professional development.
Thank you very much for this opportunity and support.
